• markers are possible without too much trouble - we're out of time on the 1 extra week we wanted to spend on features here, but maybe on one of the long planerides I have before the end of the year.
• Regions would need new support in gammaspectrum.js (still not so hard).
• Labels can be implemented dumbly without too much trouble, but putting them in a smart place that's actually legible is much more complicated; would put off doing that until we have time to do it right.
• would recommend against automatically fitting highlighted regions; just going to get confusing for users trying to do one or the other.
