Steps to reproduce the bug

1. Enable Play videos automatically
2. Open a directory containing just videos
3. Tap on any video
4. Swipe to the next video when playback starts
5. Repeat Step 4 a few times

Expected behavior

Video plays normally.

Actual behavior

Some videos fail to play with the "Media exceeds device capabilities" error. They work fine when played individually.

• This can also be reproduced when using the slideshow feature (see this or this)
• The problem is similar to Crashing With Videos #82 (resource exhaustion).
• Black screen after viewing two consecutive videos #98 seems like the same issue as this one.

Edit: I've read in another issue that Fossify Gallery uses the device codecs which means it's likely that this is a problem with my device (Galaxy S23 Ultra with Android 15).

You could technically do it using a custom ROM or rooting + manually adding codecs, but I have never tried/experimented with it. System updates are another option, but that's more like hoping than customizing.

This specific bug report is about inefficient/incorrect use of codecs rather than a lack of support.
