Initial yt scan creates "dead" queue items

YT is testing some things again. For me, that means any YT request which does NOT use a cookie returns a 403 error.

How to configure ytdlp-interface so it uses a cookie when it tries to retrieve item info?

The items can still be downloaded but ytdlp-interface's queue doesn't work, probably because it relies on the initial info which, without a cookie, shows as a 403.

Also, would you please add some kind of visual display to the main screen which will show the name of any preset which is applied?

Go to Settings -> yt-dlp and where it says Load cookies from browser: change none to your browser (this passes --cookies-from-browser to yt-dlp when getting info and when downloading). From what I understand this doesn't work in Chromium-based browsers (I use Firefox so it works for me).

Also, would you please add some kind of visual display to the main screen which will show the name of any preset which is applied?

I'm not sure how I would do that visually, but I'll see if I can come up with something.

Thanks. I should have looked at the yt-dlp settings...

For quite a while, YT complained about cookie if logging in wasn't required.

FWIW, when I asked for multiple settings, weeks (months?) ago it was because I was juggling 10 configs (really...)

all of those with/without cookie.

Why? Playlists are weird. Sometimes the order is important, sometimes not. Sometimes their number is based on upload date. With tutorials, if the sequence is important but the creator updates an old video, sorting by date doesn't work. Sometimes time order is important. Sometimes, a playlist is numbered by date so if you try to update some that are already downloaded or named, you get duplicates. It's a mess....

Ignore this post. Looks like YT is changing things again. I must be on their "screw with him" list...

I tried both relative and a hardcoded paths to a permanent (incognito mode) cookie. The queue doesn't populate properly. Here's an example of the error that happens:

Solved, for now.

Solution is open an incognito in Chrome or inprivate in Edge. Log into youtube. Export the cookie using Get cookies.txt LOCALLY 0.7.2 Close browser. Do NOT return to YT with that browser and private/incognito mode.

I highly suspect the problem I had was related to logging in when in incognito mode. I exported a cookie from each browser. I'm using the Edge cookie because I almost never use Edge.
