Description
G'day from aus.
Forgive me as I am on my phone and haven't checked repo fully yet. From memory of watching the latest video, engine simulator is computing the wave dynamics of the entire relevant volume.
My proposal is to align the renderer more with ray tracing. In this way we should dramatically reduce the volume required for calculation. I am currently testing this in an abstract case but your work came to mind. Please check out the DASHI series of work on my profile for reference.
Essentially I am proposing that we are always solving for a point source observer, which may or may not consider orientation/pickup field etc.
Any optimal solver should only solve for waves which will actually hit the observer. We should be able to back-calculate only paths which do make contact, and solve only those.
I'm just leaving this as a stub to gauge interest and to remind myself to come back to it while the thought strikes me.
I will try to confirm this is plausible/submit PR when I can.
Love the project
