RFC: Creating a release (+ tag?)

Maybe we should just make a random tag here so it has a version and could be included by maintainers in the distributions if they want.

But "gencache" should be renamed, this is namespace polluting imo :)

Okay and the thumbnailer is kinda tricky ^^'
