GGMax Enhancement - [introduce ability to specify a drive location to load/save projects from as standard] (Open projects on another device)

When I created projects on one device & I want to open those projects on another device they do not show up.
Please fix this ASAP as it should have been included in the build from the beginning.

Unless in misreading they wont ..
Unless you copy your GameGuruApps folder to the other device also or have then stored on a cloud where both systems have access.

Why should I have to do that when it would be simpler just to add that functionality to the game engine? And how would I be able to do that if I lost access to the device they were created on? And I always store my projects locally and not in the cloud. From: Bob Bacle ***@***.******@***.***>

How would you do that if you save your files locally ?
You install GameGuruMax and all your personal content is stored in your \ Documents \ GameGuruApps ( on that machine )
When you install GameGuruMax on another device those files will not be there.

However when you create a new project you do have the option of selecting an Optional Project Folder like Dropbox where you could share your files over different devices.

I personally backup my GameGuruApps regularly to another drive internally and externally
That way i will always have a backup should the worst happen
I dont trust Windows or Cloud Storage for anything that i have spent so much time on.
But if i do need to do a fresh install i just copy my GameGuruApps back over and job done
Its a 5 minute job :)

That is a valid point but what I was asking is why would I have to do that. And I have asked if the device that I originally made the projects on is no longer available, wouldn't it be easier to have the ability in the engine itself to open up my projects that I save to an external drive? I have my projects saved on an external drive but when I went on to another device & installed the engine, it did not see those projects even though I tried pointing the engine to them. That is the ultimate point that I was making. Can you just please fix this as this is an issue that shouldn't be happening with this engine. I also use Godot, Unity, Unreal & some other engines & none of them have this problem because I can open any project that I have created with them (on an external drive) on another device without any issues. @bbacle Hi Robert. I've renamed the ticket to focus on the action rather than the result of the Feature Request. I'd just like to double check I have it right. Please correct me if I've got it wrong.

You're looking for the ability to simply specify a working drive where your projects are located, rather than being constrained to the local projectbank folder? i.e.. you specify an external drive as your working directory, and that external drive can be taken away, plugged into another computer/laptop and have the MAX on that machine point to it and it just works.

Cant you just use the File/Open Game Project to import it to the max project hub??

That doesn't work...have tried it several times. The game engine needs to fix this problem when installing the engine on a new device so that any project can be opened without all the hassle of having to copy over some folder to the new device. What if my computer crashes & I lose everything on it but have the projects saved on an external drive? Or if I just get a new computer & install the game engine on it - then how do I open my projects from the external drive if I don't have access to the one I created the projects on anymore? If that isnt working it is a bug that needs fixing i would assume
