Reorganize Settings Menu

@Crustack This is the new structure I would suggest. It's a bit similar to the current structure, but I moved some things that always confused me (for example, why density is not in appearance, or why Auto save note after specified idle time was in behavior while it's backup option)

Also, I'm not sure about the big blue bars used to select backup amounts, content density, etc. While they allow setting the options faster, they are also visually confusing, too large, and we can’t see the current value without sliding the bar.

I will take a in-depth look later, but it looks well grouped I think.

I also thought about how to make the different sub-hierarchy expandable and collapsable, so it is easier to jump to different sections of the settings.
About the big slider bars, that is just a default component of Google's Material UI Library, which is the default for Android apps.

We could of course display the current setting value next to its label or something

I thought about normal submenus, it's just that markdown only supports this, but if Android supports collapse menus with no performance issues, it'd be nice as well

Hmm OK. I don't see any alternative in the components page, so I guess you depends on this library and you can't insert custom code in it?

Because personally I'd have see something like this, much less cluttered, and you could tap in the field to enter a custom number as well but idk if its feasible

Better structure to the menu is not that important to me, once I set my settings I'm not in there everyday.

I agree sliders with so many increments are counter productive. Getting the auto remove right at 10 days was fun! 365 tick marks! It's not a volume dial used everyday quickly sliding up and down. Once there are more than 10 ticks the slider is not helping.

If this is a Google default I get it but I would like to ask why the clock for reminders is digital requiring keyboard input? Every other app shows analogue clocks. I thought analogue was the Google default? Is digital in this app a bug or deliberate choice?

From what I can tell Google's Material doesnt have a Stepper Component (Number input field with +/- buttons), they seem to either use this Slider or a blank Text Input field.
Of course I can add custom UI Components, in general I would just really prefer to stick to Google's Guidelines and built-in Components.
But in this case I would also prefer something like in your screenshot, so I will see what I can do.

Yours looks as I expect. My clock opens with the keyboard view not the dial. On the bottom left of your clock hit the keyboard icon. That's what I get. It doesn't remember the dial. It only happens in this app. Google apps like alarm clock and non Google apps don't do this only NotallyX. I guess I have a bug.

Me too, but you can show the clock with the button.
Personally I prefer typing, Google's analog clock isn't really practical imo

I am guessing they think having a dial for 24H is not as intuitive as for when using AM/PM.

I am using 24H but this not it.

If I change my phone to AM/PM I still get the keyboard input with NotallyX. The only difference is AM/PM shows on the right corner of the input window.

I am always getting the keyboard input and it only happens with NotallyX. I tried on 6 other apps to confirm.

With 24H there is an inner dial for PM so there is nothing counter intuitive.

That is weird, because it seems that it actually does behave exactly according to the shown default code:

Note sure what exactly is different with your device, neither on my emulator nor on my personal android device does it behave any different from the video 🤔
But of course we can force the dial mode, potentially annoying other users prefering keyboard input (if they currently used 24H Format)

Which android version are you on? If its really something annoying for you, then please create a separate issue, we should keep this issue on track 🙂
