Is your feature request related to a problem?

Companies cannot engage with user feedback in an official capacity. This creates several problems:

  • Companies have no way to acknowledge or respond to bug reports and feature requests
  • Users don't know if their feedback has been seen by the company
  • No official communication channel between companies and users
  • Community discussions lack authoritative company input
  • Companies miss opportunities to demonstrate responsiveness and build trust

This prevents meaningful dialogue and reduces the platform's value for both users and companies.

Describe the solution you'd like

Implement a system for verified company representatives to post official responses:

  1. Official Response Types:

    • Acknowledgment: "We've seen this feedback"
    • Status Update: "We're working on this" / "Fixed" / "Won't fix"
    • Detailed Response: Explanation of company position or technical details
    • Request for More Info: Ask users for additional details
  2. Database Schema:

  3. UI Features:

    • Display official responses with distinct styling (border, badge, highlight)
    • Show "Official Response" badge
    • Pin official responses to top of comments
    • Allow verified representatives to set post status
    • Show response count on posts ("2 official responses")
  4. Permissions:

    • Only verified company members can post official responses
    • Company representatives can only respond to posts about their company
    • Responses are publicly visible
    • Representatives can edit/delete their own responses
  5. Post Status Updates:

    • Add status field to posts table: 'open', 'acknowledged', 'in_progress', 'resolved', 'closed', 'wont_fix'
    • Only company representatives can change status
    • Show status badge on posts
    • Filter posts by status

Describe alternatives you've considered

  1. Regular Comments Only: Allow companies to comment like regular users, but this doesn't distinguish official vs personal opinions
  2. Email Notifications: Send responses via email, but this doesn't create public transparency
  3. Upvote System: Let companies upvote posts to show awareness, but this lacks communication detail

Additional context

This feature depends on the Company Verification System being implemented first to ensure only legitimate company representatives can post official responses.
