[Feature Request] "Open Memento" action on buttons #3671
Description
With the addition of a "managed memento" directory ( #3250 ) I see a couple of use-cases where I would like to trigger a switch to different memento by a click on an action button.
Use Cases
Use case 1: Global navigation
In a setup with multiple accelerators or beamlines/labs I would like to include buttons into our usual "launcher" which allows a full context switch from accelerator 1 to accelerator 2 or beamline Y to beamline X, which is typically more than just opening another top panel as labs and accelerators use different window configurations
Use case 2: Commissioning/Measurement Views
I regularly observe people running certain experiments or commissioning tasks to re-arrange our default view for a more complex vertical and horizontal panel arrangements. I would like to provide buttons for that which integrates into our panels, something like "Switch to XYZ measurement view..."
Why?
The alternative would be to use the regular memento selection menu options and train / document which memento to use for which use case. Using a button allows to provide more context (button label, tooltip, etc.) and does not require to manually select an entry from a potentially longer list, where just the name of the memento might not be enough information
