You must have your default message app to none I'm the settings of android. That's the only was I can get that to do the same.

I use a Google Pixel 9, Running GrapheneOS Android 16 with gapps sandboxed

Also, the app is QUIK by octoshrimpy, available on F-Droid and github.

Still, shouldn't it open based on the system default SMS app?

I'm guessing that app doesn't have addCategory(Intent.CATEGORY_APP_MESSAGING) as in intent as that what it requires
