Receiving Unlock Notifications for All Previously Unlocked Items #26

I'm opening this issue on behalf of a friend who isn't on Github.
The plugin was installed and is tracking items as expected. However, after a week of not logging in the user logged in and all items that were previously unlocked started firing the popup notification back to back.
Not sure if related but the user did toggle the plugin off and back on before the issue happened.
Hoping one of the following can be achieved:
- Root cause is identified and either remediated or explained how to avoid the behavior if user error
- A toggle option is added that allows for disabling the popup feature for new unlocks
Please let me know if there's any other information I can provide to help debug.
