Code of Conduct for CIRO Network

🌟 Our Pledge

We as members, contributors, and leaders of the CIRO Network community pledge to make participation in our project and community a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, visible or invisible disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, caste, color, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.

We pledge to act and interact in ways that contribute to an open, welcoming, diverse, inclusive, and healthy community focused on building the future of decentralized AI infrastructure.

🎯 Our Standards

✅ Expected Behavior

Examples of behavior that contributes to a positive environment for our community include:

  • Being respectful and inclusive in all communications
  • Demonstrating empathy and kindness toward other community members
  • Being welcoming to newcomers and helping them learn
  • Giving and gracefully accepting constructive feedback
  • Accepting responsibility and apologizing to those affected by our mistakes
  • Focusing on what is best not just for us as individuals, but for the overall community
  • Using inclusive language that welcomes and encourages participation
  • Respecting different viewpoints and experiences
  • Showing gratitude for contributions and help from others
  • Being patient with questions and learning processes

❌ Unacceptable Behavior

Examples of unacceptable behavior include:

  • Harassment or discrimination of any kind
  • Trolling, insulting, or derogatory comments
  • Personal or political attacks
  • Public or private harassment
  • Publishing others' private information without explicit permission
  • Sexual language or imagery and unwelcome sexual attention or advances
  • Intimidation, stalking, or following
  • Sustained disruption of discussions or events
  • Advocating for or encouraging any of the above behavior
  • Any other conduct that could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting

🛡️ Enforcement Responsibilities

Community leaders are responsible for clarifying and enforcing our standards of acceptable behavior and will take appropriate and fair corrective action in response to any behavior that they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive, or harmful.

Community leaders have the right and responsibility to remove, edit, or reject comments, commits, code, wiki edits, issues, and other contributions that are not aligned with this Code of Conduct, and will communicate reasons for moderation decisions when appropriate.

📍 Scope

This Code of Conduct applies within all community spaces, and also applies when an individual is officially representing the community in public spaces. Examples of representing our community include:

  • Using an official e-mail address
  • Posting via an official social media account
  • Acting as an appointed representative at an online or offline event
  • Participating in CIRO Network forums, Discord, or other communication channels
  • Contributing to CIRO Network repositories
  • Attending CIRO Network events or meetups

🚨 Reporting Violations

How to Report

If you experience or witness unacceptable behavior, please report it by contacting the community leaders at:

  • Email: conduct@ciro.ai
  • Discord: Message any moderator directly
  • GitHub: Use the "Report content" feature

What to Include

When reporting, please include:

  • Your contact information
  • Names (real, usernames, or pseudonyms) of any individuals involved
  • Your account of what occurred
  • Additional context you believe may be helpful
  • If you believe the incident is ongoing

Response Process

All reports will be handled with discretion and confidentiality. Community leaders will:

  1. Acknowledge receipt of your report within 48 hours
  2. Review and investigate the reported behavior
  3. Determine appropriate action based on the circumstances
  4. Communicate the outcome to the reporter
  5. Take follow-up action as necessary

⚖️ Enforcement Guidelines

Community leaders will follow these Community Impact Guidelines in determining the consequences for any action they deem in violation of this Code of Conduct:

1. Correction

Community Impact: Use of inappropriate language or other behavior deemed unprofessional or unwelcome in the community.

Consequence: A private, written warning from community leaders, providing clarity around the nature of the violation and an explanation of why the behavior was inappropriate. A public apology may be requested.

2. Warning

Community Impact: A violation through a single incident or series of actions.

Consequence: A warning with consequences for continued behavior. No interaction with the people involved, including unsolicited interaction with those enforcing the Code of Conduct, for a specified period of time. This includes avoiding interactions in community spaces as well as external channels like social media. Violating these terms may lead to a temporary or permanent ban.

3. Temporary Ban

Community Impact: A serious violation of community standards, including sustained inappropriate behavior.

Consequence: A temporary ban from any sort of interaction or public communication with the community for a specified period of time. No public or private interaction with the people involved, including unsolicited interaction with those enforcing the Code of Conduct, is allowed during this period. Violating these terms may lead to a permanent ban.

4. Permanent Ban

Community Impact: Demonstrating a pattern of violation of community standards, including sustained inappropriate behavior, harassment of an individual, or aggression toward or disparagement of classes of individuals.

Consequence: A permanent ban from any sort of public interaction within the community.

🔄 Appeals Process

If you believe you have been falsely or unfairly accused of violating this Code of Conduct, you may appeal the decision by:

  1. Submitting a written appeal to conduct@ciro.ai within 30 days
  2. Providing evidence or additional context
  3. Requesting a review by a different member of the leadership team

Appeals will be reviewed by community leaders who were not involved in the original decision.

Technical Discussions

  • Stay on topic and keep discussions relevant to CIRO Network
  • Be constructive in criticism and suggestions
  • Help newcomers understand our technical stack and architecture
  • Share knowledge and learn from others
  • Acknowledge different skill levels and be patient with questions

Collaboration

  • Respect intellectual property and licensing requirements
  • Give credit where credit is due
  • Collaborate openly and transparently
  • Be responsive to feedback and code reviews
  • Maintain professionalism in all project-related activities

Community Building

  • Welcome new contributors and help them get started
  • Celebrate achievements and milestones
  • Support community events and initiatives
  • Promote diversity and inclusion in all activities
  • Foster innovation and creative problem-solving
