Waveform too zoomed in (loud songs look like blobs)

The Waveform loses the ability to see transients during louder sections. Maybe lower the scaling or zoom so you can see the full waveform.

Also a sidenote, green isn't a very good default color for the waveform. ;)

A good approach might be like ArrowVortex (Stepmania editor) does it.
It has an option to overlay a low-pass or high-pass filtered waveform with variable strength.

You can see the transients very clearly. Even the 32nd kick drum at 290bpm is visible.
