Issue with widget service/notifications

I am a web developer developing a plugin for their ecommerce app done through Buildfire. I am having trouble debugging notifications. Every 15 minutes, I would like the plugin to send a GET request to get the current inventory of certain products in the store. If the products meet certain criteria, my client would l like a notification pop up telling the users about the products inventory level.

Based on the documentation I have written a service to do this, but the notifications are not being sent. I emailed support and they were not much help. I'm not sure if the issue is how I set up the widget service or the notification. What is the best way to debug this issue?

We usually take these questions on stackoverflow where buildfire is mentioned in the title and body.

Could you elaborate on the type of notifications you are triggering?
A few comments: if you want the notifications to be triggered while the app is in the background in iOS you will need to enable this feature
Also if you are triggering a local notification make sure you request the right permissions.
If you have a plugin service, make sure you register it with plugin.json
