configuration.watchOptions has an unknown property 'ignored'

Hi, I'm trying to do a maven compile but gets hung up on this error. I looked this property up on the webpack site and it seems valid. Is there something I'm missing here?

I also looked at the webpack config file and it looks like that property stores an array of values. Is this format still valid for the property? I've tested just removing the value and it runs but I'd rather follow those rules if they are needed. Any reply is much appreciated. Thanks!

you're talking about the following JS in the Webpack config file which causes your Webpack build to break:

  watchOptions: {
    ignored: [
      /node_modules/,
      '**/*.bundle.css',
      '**/*.bundle.js',
      '**/*.html',
      '**/*.xml',
    ],
  },

We haven't had any issues with that. As you mentioned, the property is valid (see Webpack docs). However, the documentation doesn't mention that it supports an array. Can you try if a simpler configuration works, for example ignored: /node_modules/, instead of the array?

In case you modified webpack.project/index.js, check if your custom Webpack config causes the issue. Maybe the merge of your and the default configuration messes something up.

Since I haven't been able to reproduce the issue, I can't really give you advice on this. Please share relevant parts of your error log for future reference, in case someone else (including us) experiences the same issue.

I tried just adding simpler configuration and it still doesn't work. here is part of the error log:

@lluangrath Maybe the Webpack NPM module is outdated? Are you running the build locally or on some server?

Try this:
Delete the node_modules/ folder and the package-lock.json file from the ui.apps/src/main/webpack.core directory. Run npm install and then run npm run deploy to see if you still get the issue. (npm run deploy is the command Maven runs.)

You can also try npm uninstall webpack, and then reinstall it: npm install webpack.
