"description": "Long-term study station (LTER) to access climate change impacts on coastal ecosystems, support local MPA's to protect these areas from variable human impacts and increase local communities' literacy on the importance of coastal ecosystems to their lives. The PELD (Long-term Program of Ecological Research) Coastal Habitats of Esp\u00edrito Santo is part of the Brazilian LTER program and started in 2017. It is located on the Eastern Coast of Brazil and evaluates coastal ecosystems including estuaries, mangroves, coastal reefs, and rodolith beds. This is an innovative project to assess the temporal patterns in multiple coastal ecosystems in the Eastern Brazil Marine Ecoregion, where there is a decadal warming trend. The program associates research and conservation, at three coastal-marine protected areas: Costa das Algas Environmental Protected Area, Santa Cruz Wildlife Refuge, and Municipal Reserves of Integral Protection of the mangroves of Piraqu\u00ea-A\u00e7u and Piraqu\u00ea-Mirim rivers. The project aims to investigate the interactions among abiotic, climatic, and ecological dynamics in the benthic communities associated with these coastal ecosystems. PELD-HCES counts on a research team coordinated by UFES in partnership with other Brazilian Universities, and funded by CNPQ, CAPES, and FAPES. PELD HCES has produced: 10-years of mangrove total ecosystem stocks data, and 10 years of benthic-pelagic (benthic recruitment and macroalgal coverage) data covering multiple essential biodiversity variables and seascape parameters to assess and predict warming effects on marine communities. Biodiversity data is published in OBIS and SIBBr.",
