Issue with adl_score_5_fun variable in cchsflow

Hello,
I am trying to use the adl_score_5_fun function to code an adl_score variable with cchs data. However, I noticed that the function seems to add points to the score when the response is 2 instead of 1 (in the cchs, 1=yes, 2=no, so the function should add points when the function is equal to 1). Would someone be able to clarify this for me? Thanks!

Thanks for reporting this! I've reviewed the adl_score_5_fun()
function code, and it appears to be implemented correctly. The
function specifically counts when ADL variables equal 1 (needs
help):

From the current function (line ~462):

count_adl <- sum(all_adl_vector == 1)

Debugging Steps

Since the function logic looks correct, let's figure out what
might be happening:

1. Test with simple examples:
   adl_score_5_fun(1, 2, 2, 2, 2) # Should return 1
   adl_score_5_fun(1, 1, 2, 2, 2) # Should return 2
   adl_score_5_fun(2, 2, 2, 2, 2) # Should return 0
2. Check your data: Could you verify what values are actually in
   your ADL variables? Sometimes data might have unexpected coding:
   table(your_data$ADL_01) # Check the actual values
3. Check for missing data codes: CCHS uses codes like 6 (not
   applicable) and 7,8,9 (missing). The function should return
   "NA(a)" or "NA(b)" for these cases.

Possible Issues

• Data preprocessing: Are you using rec_with_table() first? While
  not required for cycles up to 2014, it ensures proper missing
  data handling.
• Unexpected values: Your data might contain values other than 1
  and 2.
