Users can currently only download from GitHub

Describe the solution you'd like

• Create Google Play Console account and verify developer profile.
• Prepare signed AAB release flow in CI (versioning, changelog, release notes, artifacts).
• Add Play required app content (privacy policy URL, data safety form, app access notes, target audience).
• Configure Android signing key strategy (upload key + Play App Signing).
• Run internal testing track first, then closed/open testing, then production rollout.
• Monitor Android vitals/crash reports and staged rollout metrics before full rollout.

Additional context

• Google Play Console has a one-time developer registration fee (currently around 25 USD).

Google Play Store Support Reference
Context: Transitioning a FOSS-compliant (F-Droid) Flutter app to the Google Play Store.

Current F-Droid Setup:

• Using geolocator with a dependency_override to the floss branch.
• Dart code uses forceLocationManager: true for native GPS.
• android/app/build.gradle excludes com.google.android.gms and strips dependenciesInfo.

Proposed Play Store Solution: Build Flavors To support both stores without compromising UX or FOSS status:

1. Flavor: foss

• Uses geolocator (floss branch).
• Stays 100% GMS-free for F-Droid.

2. Flavor: play

• Uses official geolocator.
• Leverages Google Play Services for faster triangulation/battery efficiency.

Action Item: Implement Android Build Flavors in build.gradle and use flutter build apk --flavor foss / flutter build appbundle --flavor play.

The flavor setup is no longer needed, as we removed the geolocator entirely
