PTO Requests - failing in Set Requested Hours workflow step

When PTO requests are submitted, the workflow fails at the Set Requested Hours step and sets Requested Hours to something that breaks the workflow.

Here's what I see in the PTO Request,

the lava code for Set Requested Hours

and the resulting value set for Requested Hours

Expected Behavior

Expected the Requested Hours to be set to 40 (5 days x 8 hours)

Actual Behavior

Lava error above and incorrect Requested Hours

Steps to Reproduce

Go to profile and submit PTO Request
