No cameras available

Im using the ARDUCAM MULTI CAMERA ADAPTER STEREO MODULE V2 with raspberry pi 4b, and when I run the example code, It says XDG_RUNTIME_DIR not set in environment and ERROR: *** no cameras available ***

Any idea why this is happening? 
I am using the 12MP HQ camera with the IMX477 chip. I know this board is meant for 5MP and 8MP cameras, but can't I use 12MP camera with a lower resolution?
