Unable to take interactive screenshot (on Hyprland)

I'm on Arch Linux with Hyprland and if I try to create an interactive screenshot I get the following error message

gradia --screenshot=INTERACTIVE
Screenshot failed: g-io-error-quark: Screenshot failed (0)
Screenshot was cancelled or failed. Exiting.

I don't have any interaction before the error message occurs (no option to select the area etc.).

Before switching to Hyprland I used GNOME and did not have any issues there.

Any ideas what's going wrong here or how to tackle down this issue?

I realize little to no logs or debug info has been provided regarding this problem, but I can confirm that the same behavior happens on CachyOS, under the Niri WM, when running the flatpak version of Gradia.

Perhaps a little more information. When trying to open a file within Gradia using no command line options, I get this error after it opens the file and clicking on an annotation tool in the palette.

(gradia:2): GVFS-WARNING **: 14:57:18.435: The peer-to-peer connection failed: Error when getting information for file “/run/user/1000/gvfsd”: No such file or directory. Falling back to the session bus. Your application is probably missing --filesystem=xdg-run/gvfsd privileges.

I think more important may be these warnings.

The Vulkan packages were just upgraded on my system this morning as part of a larger upgrade to CachyOS.

Lastly, when installing Gradia from the AUR (technically from chaotic-aur), this problem does not exist and Gradia functions correctly. However, it is my understanding that anything other than the Flatpak package (maybe a snap package on Ubuntu) is not supported or recommended.

I don't have any issues while opening/editing existing images. This works without any problems

it doesnt work on linux mint/cinnamon either, both the flatpak and the snap, they both just take screenshots of the full screen instead
