<p>Hi, my name is Alberto Garcia. I am a nuclear physicist interested in working on cool projects. My recent interests mostly revolve around AI and machine learning. The purpose of this page is to keep all my publications, presentations, and projects in one place. Feel free to browse around!</p>
<p>About me:<br />
I graduated with a PhD from the Ohio State University (OSU) in 2023. My dissertation focused on building reduced-order models for fast & accurate emulation of nucleon-nucleon (NN) observables. In particular, I developed model-driven projection-based approaches to predict neutron-proton (np) scattering observables. I also worked on applying data-driven (non-intrusive) approaches, such as feed-forward artificial neural networks, to No Core Shell Model (NCSM) data for the prediction of ground-state binding energies and radii of various nuclei. The different emulators were written using Python and are available under ‘‘Software’’.</p>
<p>I also obtained a Master’s from the California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) in 2018. There, my focus was on analyzing the probability of cooper pairs tunneling through Josephson junctions with an inhomogeneous impurity-free magnetic medium. This was done by using a tight-binding model and solving the Bogoliubov-de Gennes equations. The results were then compared to previously obtained results in the impurity-ridden regime. These codes were written in Modern Fortran.</p>
