I saw a different suggestion to simply change the graphics. I think there would be value in adding some customization settings for this feature. The idea is, some water will damage your ship, and some people want to have there be a clear distinction between safe and unsafe tiles. Others prefer the graphics to be cleaner, even if the hazard isn't as clear. The blending feature in 117 HD is awesome but it does take away the readability of those dangerous tiles.

I'm not sure what the plans are for new graphics for dangerous tiles on the ocean, but maybe it would be worth adding a slider of sorts so people could decide how much blending, if any, is applied to the edges between these zones. Thanks!
