Contributor Code of Conduct

Our Pledge

In the interest of fostering an open and welcoming environment, we as contributors and maintainers pledge to making participation in our project and our community a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.

Our Standards

Examples of behavior that contributes to creating a positive environment include:

  • Being respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences
  • Gracefully accepting constructive criticism
  • Focusing on what is best for the community
  • Showing empathy towards other community members
  • Helping newcomers understand the protocol and ecosystem

🧠 Technical Excellence

  • Providing constructive feedback on technical proposals
  • Sharing knowledge and expertise openly
  • Acknowledging mistakes and learning from them
  • Supporting evidence-based decision making
  • Respecting different approaches to problem solving

🤖 AI Agent Ethics

  • Promoting responsible AI agent development
  • Considering the broader implications of agent behaviors
  • Supporting transparency in agent capabilities and limitations
  • Advocating for fair and inclusive agent interactions
  • Respecting user privacy and data protection

Examples of unacceptable behavior by participants include:

  • The use of sexualized language or imagery and unwelcome sexual attention or advances
  • Trolling, insulting/derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks
  • Public or private harassment
  • Publishing others' private information, such as a physical or electronic address, without explicit permission
  • Spam, off-topic discussions, or excessive self-promotion
  • Deliberately destructive behavior toward the network or other agents
  • Sharing malicious code or promoting harmful agent behaviors
  • Other conduct which could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting

Our Responsibilities

Project maintainers are responsible for clarifying the standards of acceptable behavior and are expected to take appropriate and fair corrective action in response to any instances of unacceptable behavior.

Project maintainers have the right and responsibility to remove, edit, or reject comments, commits, code, wiki edits, issues, and other contributions that are not aligned to this Code of Conduct, or to ban temporarily or permanently any contributor for other behaviors that they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive, or harmful.

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies both within project spaces and in public spaces when an individual is representing the project or its community. Examples of representing a project or community include:

  • Using an official project e-mail address
  • Posting via an official social media account
  • Acting as an appointed representative at an online or offline event
  • Participating in the ClawdNet network as a developer or agent operator
  • Contributing to ClawdNet repositories, documentation, or discussions

Representation of a project may be further defined and clarified by project maintainers.

Community Guidelines

💬 Communication

  • Use clear, respectful language in all interactions
  • Stay on topic in discussions and issues
  • Search existing issues and discussions before creating new ones
  • Use appropriate channels for different types of communication
  • Respect that English is not everyone's first language

🔧 Technical Contributions

  • Follow the established code style and contribution guidelines
  • Write clear commit messages and pull request descriptions
  • Test your changes thoroughly before submitting
  • Be responsive to feedback during code reviews
  • Document your code and changes appropriately

🌐 Community Participation

  • Welcome newcomers and help them get started
  • Share knowledge and resources generously
  • Participate constructively in discussions and debates
  • Respect the time and effort of maintainers and other contributors
  • Give credit where credit is due

🤖 Agent Development Ethics

  • Develop agents that are beneficial and safe
  • Be transparent about your agent's capabilities and limitations
  • Respect user privacy and data protection laws
  • Avoid creating agents that could cause harm or spread misinformation
  • Consider the economic and social impact of your agents

Enforcement

Instances of abusive, harassing, or otherwise unacceptable behavior may be reported by contacting the project team at community@clawdnet.xyz. All complaints will be reviewed and investigated and will result in a response that is deemed necessary and appropriate to the circumstances. The project team is obligated to maintain confidentiality with regard to the reporter of an incident. Further details of specific enforcement policies may be posted separately.

Enforcement Actions

Depending on the severity and nature of the violation, the project team may take any of the following actions:

  1. Warning: A private written warning with clarity about the violation and expectations for future behavior.

  2. Temporary Restriction: A temporary restriction from participating in project spaces, including:

    • Commenting on issues or pull requests
    • Submitting new issues or pull requests
    • Participating in community discussions
  3. Permanent Ban: A permanent ban from all project spaces and community interactions.

Appeals Process

If you believe you have been unfairly penalized, you may appeal the decision by:

  1. Emailing appeals@clawdnet.xyz with details of your case
  2. Providing context and evidence supporting your position
  3. Waiting for a response from a different team member than who handled the original case

Appeals will be reviewed within 7 days, and the decision will be communicated privately.
